The B.Sc Nautical Science is a three-year residential undergraduate program designed to prepare students for a professional career as Deck Officers in the Merchant Navy and maritime industry. The course is affiliated with the Indian Maritime University (IMU) and approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India. Graduates are trained to serve on various types of vessels, including cargo ships, tankers, passenger vessels, and offshore ships, and are equipped with the knowledge and practical skills required for navigation, seamanship, cargo operations, and maritime safety.
Admission to the program requires candidates to qualify in the IMU-CET (Indian Maritime University – Common Entrance Test). Applicants must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) from a recognized board, securing a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM and at least 50% marks in English in either 10th or 12th standard. IMUCET 2026 rank is mandatory for admission. A 5% relaxation in English marks is applicable for eligible Scheduled Tribe candidates from Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands as per government norms.
The program is open to unmarried candidates who meet the prescribed academic and eligibility criteria.
