The B.Tech. Marine Engineering programme at Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI) is a four-year undergraduate course structured into eight academic semesters and governed by prescribed academic rules. The programme is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in engineering sciences along with exposure to humanities and social sciences. As the course progresses, the curriculum shifts towards specialised theoretical and practical knowledge in marine and mechanical engineering, focusing on the skills required to operate, manage, and maintain shipboard machinery efficiently.
In the first year, students are introduced to core engineering sciences, which form the base for advanced learning. The second year builds on these fundamentals by applying them in a marine engineering context. The third year covers essential marine machinery and advanced technical concepts, while the final year emphasises ship operations and specialised marine systems. Practical training is a key component throughout the programme, supported by laboratory sessions and extensive workshop training. Students learn to use tools, dismantle, overhaul, and assemble marine machinery. In the final year, students also complete a semester-long internship in a maritime organisation, gaining valuable real-world industry experience.
