The B.Tech Marine Engineering program at International Maritime Institute (IMI) is a 4-year degree course affiliated to Indian Maritime University, Chennai, and approved by the Directorate General of Shipping and AICTE. It prepares candidates for a career as marine engineers in the Merchant Navy. After completing the degree and mandatory STCW courses, cadets join ships as junior/trainee engineers. With 6 months of sea service, they become eligible to appear for the Class IV Part B examination (Part A exempted due to degree). On passing, they receive a Class IV Certificate of Competency from the Mercantile Marine Department, Government of India, and become certified engineer officers.Eligibility (Fleet criteria) requires candidates to be 20 years or younger as of 1st July (current year). They must have passed 12th in the current year with minimum 70% in PCM and 70% in English (no improvement/open board/NIOS accepted), and not more than a two-year gap between 10th and 12th. Physical standards include minimum height 160 cm, BMI 17.5–25, normal speech and hearing, and 6/6 eyesight without color blindness. Admission includes IMI registration, sponsorship exam/interview by Fleet Management, psychometric test, medical examination, and IMU-CET qualification.

3 months agoInternational maritime institute, greater noida offers an excellent learning environment with practical exposure. Impressive infrastructure and even a training ship right on campus for hands on training experience. Knowledgeable faculty members with strong industry experience. Good food and well maintained hostel facilities.
