The Graduate Marine Engineering (GME) program is a 12-month course designed for Mechanical Engineering graduates who wish to shift their career into Marine Engineering. The course is approved by the Directorate General of Shippingand focuses on marine engines, ship machinery, and extensive workshop training.
After completing the GME course along with mandatory STCW courses, candidates can join ships as junior/trainee engineers. Upon completing 6 months of sea service, they become eligible to appear for the Class IV Part B examination (Part A exempted based on their engineering degree). After successfully clearing the exam, a Class IV Certificate of Competency is issued by the Mercantile Marine Department, Government of India, qualifying them as Certified Engineer Officers in the Merchant Navy.
Eligibility (Fleet criteria) requires candidates to be maximum 24 years of age at course commencement, with minimum 70% marks in 10th and 12th, and a Mechanical Engineering degree with no backlogs. Physical standards include minimum height 165 cm, BMI between 17.5–25, normal speech and hearing, and 6/6 eyesight without color blindness.
Admission involves institute registration, sponsorship/placement exam and interview, psychometric test, and medical examination by a DG Shipping–approved doctor.

Impressive infrastructure and even a training ship right on campus for hands on training experience. Knowledgeable faculty members with strong industry experience. Good food and well maintained hostel facilities.
