The Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) Course at International Maritime Institute (IMI) is a 4-month Pre-Sea program conducted at Greater Noida, with intakes in March, July, and November. It is followed by 6 months of onboard training, with sponsorship opportunities from leading shipping companies. The course prepares Electrical and Electronics diploma/degree holders for a career as Electro-Technical Officers in the Merchant Navy.
Eligibility (Fleet criteria) requires candidates to be 27 years or younger at course commencement. Applicants must have minimum 70% in PCM (12th) or overall Diploma, and minimum 70% in English (10th/12th/Diploma). Eligible qualifications include B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Instrumentation, or equivalent, recognized by State/Central Government or AICTE. Open board/distance learning candidates are not eligible.
Physical standards include minimum height 157 cm, BMI between 17.5–25, normal speech and hearing, and eyesight 6/9 unaided and 6/6 with aid, with no color blindness.
Admission involves IMI registration, sponsorship/placement exam and interview, psychometric test, and medical examination by a DG Shipping–approved doctor.

3 months agoInternational maritime institute, greater noida offers an excellent learning environment with practical exposure. Impressive infrastructure and even a training ship right on campus for hands on training experience. Knowledgeable faculty members with strong industry experience. Good food and well maintained hostel facilities.
