The Electro Technical Officer (ETO) course is a structured maritime training program consisting of 4 months of Pre-Sea Training, followed by 8 months of Structured Shipboard Training as a Trainee/Assistant ETO. After completing onboard training, candidates undergo 4 months of advanced courses and then appear for the ETO Examination. Upon successfully passing the examination and obtaining the Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, candidates become eligible to work globally as fully certified Electro Technical Officers.
To be eligible, candidates must hold a four-year BE/B.Tech degree (including lateral entry) in Electrical, Electronics, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication/Communication, or Instrumentation Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks. They must also secure at least 50% in English in 10th or 12th standard, though relaxation is provided if the degree was completed in English with 60% marks. The degree or diploma must be recognized by AICTE or the Government. Additionally, candidates must meet the medical and physical fitness standards prescribed under STCW and undergo examination by an approved doctor.

2 weeks agoDNS for the 2026 batch is really bad. In the interview, they are asking very poor questions that are not related to shipping, and they are only asking for 2 minutes. They don’t understand that candidates are coming from far away places. Fleet and Anglo are much better than this or that is my review
