The Graduate Marine Engineer (GME) is an 8-month Pre-Sea Training program followed by 10 months of Structured Shipboard Training (4 months as Trainee Marine Engineer and 6 months as Junior Engineer). After sea training, candidates complete 4 months of advanced courses and appear for the MEO Class IV examination. Upon passing and obtaining the Certificate of Competency (CoC) from the Directorate General of Shipping, candidates become eligible to work globally as 4th Engineers. With further sea time and exams, they can progress to 2nd Engineer and Chief Engineer ranks.
Eligibility requires a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering (non-DGS approved), Naval Architecture, or related mechanical streams from an AICTE-approved institute, with minimum 50% marks and 50% in English. The maximum age limit is 28 years (relaxations applicable for SC/ST/OBC and women candidates). Candidates must meet STCW medical and physical fitness standards.

2 weeks agoDNS for the 2026 batch is really bad. In the interview, they are asking very poor questions that are not related to shipping, and they are only asking for 2 minutes. They don’t understand that candidates are coming from far away places. Fleet and Anglo are much better than this or that is my review
