This is an advanced Deck Officer program offered in collaboration with City of Glasgow College, UK, designed to fast-track a career in the Merchant Navy. The course focuses on advanced navigation, ship management, and professional competency development, preparing candidates to perform duties as Deck Officers onboard merchant vessels. The program is structured to meet the requirements of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), UK, the Merchant Navy Training Board, and STCW conventions.
The training comprises 42 weeks at the Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET), India, followed by approximately 40 weeks at City of Glasgow College, UK. On successful completion, candidates complete 15 months of sea service (arranged independently) and a Second Mate preparatory program, leading to eligibility for the UK MCA Second Mate (Class 2) Certificate of Competency. Exemptions are also granted toward higher MCA certification levels.
Eligibility requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, minimum 50% marks in English, IELTS score of 5.5, and compliance with DG Shipping medical standards, including strict eyesight and colour vision norms. Candidates must be 17–30 years of age. Both male and female candidates are eligible.
